Document can be for out-of-province, or out-of-country purposes.
Documents can be in a foreign language. The Notary only needs to properly identify you, and watch you sign. In addition, you will be asked to print your English name beside your signature, if it isn't already there.
The name on the Govt-issued Photo ID you bring must match the name on the
document being signed. This is especially important if you have 2 last names.
By law, the person having their signature notarized must appear and sign in
front of the Notary.
If your document needs an extra witness, bring someone with you if you can,
otherwise we can try to ask another client to be the extra witness.
For Wills and Continuing Power of Attorney documents however, you must
bring the extra witness.
Commission of Oaths, Solemn Affirmations and Declarations by a Commissioner of Oaths for any legal matter.
Note: We don't draft Affidavits, Statutory, or Solemn Declarations. The below fee only covers swearing an oath, a solemn affirmation, or solemn declaration.
Save money and create your own Affidavit, Solemn Affirmation, or Solemn Declaration: Sample.
Where you have an original document and you want the Notary to make a certified copy of the original.
We provide certification of all documents for domestic or international use.
Bring the originals and the photocopies. The Notary must see the original and there is no copier or
printer at our office.
Please note: To be legally valid - if you are photocopying multiple documents onto a single page (for example a passport and a driver's licence), each photocopied image on the page must be separately sealed and certified by the Notary - resulting in a fee for each sealed image.
When you photocopy the front and back of a document they are counted as just one certified copy, even if they are on separate pages.
Who Can Bring? You can bring another person's original documents; the documents don't have to belong to you.
Foreign Language Documents - The original documents can be in any language.
Black/White or Colour? Usually the institution you're sending them to will let you know if they require colour copies; otherwise black/white copies are usually sufficient.
Multi-Page Documents - Unless your institution requires otherwise, a multi-page document only requires one seal. The Notary will indicate the number of pages in the document near his signature, and will signature stamp each page. For documents of 5 pages or more there will be an extra fee of $0.25 per page.
Where you have an original document and you want the Notary to certify that the document is in fact an original.
We provide certification of all documents for domestic or international use.
Bring the originals. The Notary must view the original and determine if it is in fact an original (not a printout).

Where the original document can only be viewed in an Email, or on a
Website, we provide an Electronic Document Certification Service whereby the Notary will certify your
printout is a true copy of the Electronic Document.
Disclaimer: Usually, Notaries certify copies of original documents where the Notary can view the physical Original. An Electronic Certification while similar may not meet the legal requirements of the institution requesting your documents; especially where the institution has specifically asked for Certified Copies of original documents.
It is the Client's responsibility to confirm whether an Electronic Certification will satisfy your particular institution's requirements; the Notary cannot warrant the usefulness of an Electronic Document Certification.
To utilize our Electronic Document Service make sure you bring a smart phone or laptop
so the Notary can view the Electronic Document in your Email or on a Website.
Just having an Electronic copy of a document on your device is not sufficient. The Notary must be able to view, or watch you
download, each document from an Email or a Website.
Bring a printout of each of your Electronic Documents; there is no copier or printer at our office.
A multi-page document requires only 1 seal. The Notary will seal the 1st page and signature stamp other pages. If 5 or more pages, there is an extra fee of $0.25 per page.
You can bring another person's documents; the documents don't have to belong to you.
The original documents can be in any language.
Electronic Documents require significantly more time so there is an extra fee for this service (see below).
Someone may ask you to get a document 'NOTARIZED'; but this term can have
different meanings. 'NOTARIZE' can mean:
Have the Notary notarize your signature on your document. In this case you will be signing the document in front of the Notary (Select Service 1 when Booking Online); or
Have the Notary make a notarized true copy of the original document. In this case you will not be signing the document; and the receiving institution is allowing you to send a notarized copy of an original document (Select Service 3 when Booking Online). Example: A notarized copy of your Diploma; or
Have the Notary certify your document is an original. Again, you will not be signing the document; the receiving institution wants you to send them an original document (Select Service 4 when Booking Online). Example: An original letter signed by your Doctor; or
Have the Notary certify your document is a true copy of a document in an Email or on a Website. Again, you will not be signing the document; the receiving institution wants you to send a notarized printout of an Electronic Document (Select Service 5 when Booking Online). Example: A paystub sent to you in an email by your employer; or
When you ask the Notary to 'NOTARIZE' a document, by law, the Notary cannot
tell you which of these options is required. You must determine
which one will serve your purpose before you come to our office.
If you are uncertain what to do you may need to call the institution requesting
your document, to see which options they will accept.
You can also find additional information that may help you to decide, on our Online Booking page.
(Note: there is no copier, printer, or scanner at our office.)
By law, the Notary cannot decide which signatures will need to be notarized.
You must consult with your lawyer before coming; and MARK AN 'X' at each place
you want the Notary to sign. We won't be able to notarize your documents unless
this has been completed beforehand.
Documents may require extra Witnesses. Bring someone with you if you can;
otherwise, we can try to ask other clients to be extra Witnesses. Determine
beforehand where the Notary may act as a Witness in addition to being the Notary;
and MARK AN 'X' accordingly.
If you have a document which requires the Notary to give legal advice or
explain the contents of a document, you will need to complete that document in front of
a qualified Property Lawyer. The Notary cannot give any legal advice.
Alternatively, after consulting your lawyer, they may allow you to strike out
such statements, before coming to our office. In that case we can also complete
those documents.
DO NOT SIGN any documents until you are in front of the Notary.
Notary fees are charged per notary signature/seal, not per document.
The name on your Govt-issued Photo ID must match the name on the document
being signed. This is especially important if you have 2 last names.
If you require the Notary to make any CERTIFIED COPIES, bring the originals and
the photocopies. The Notary must see the original and there is no copier or
printer at our office.
A SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY is a document in which you appoint someone else to act on your behalf on matters that you specify.
The Special Power of Attorney can be in any language.
We don't draft Special Power of Attorney documents; we only notarize them. However, there is a sample Special Power of Attorney on our website: see below.
A CONTINUING POWER OF ATTORNEY is a special Power of Attorney set up to take care of a person's interests if they become mentally incapacitated. This kind of document requires 2 witnesses. Although not required by law, some institutions require one of the witnesses to be a Notary.
A Will requires two Witnesses. The Notary will be the first Witness, and you must bring the 2nd Witness with you.
The second Witness should not be an Executor or a Beneficiary (or the spouse of a Beneficiary) of the Will.
You must also bring an Affidavit of Execution which is the 2nd Witness's sworn statement that all 3 signers signed in each other's presence. (See below).

$16.95
2nd Witness's Affidavit of Execution
$16.95
Adding Exhibit Stamp and Seal to back of Will (connects the Affidavit to the Will).
Used where a Witness is asked to swear or solemnly declare they were present
and witnessed people signing a document.
Especially used where there is a Will, to prevent the legal problems that might arise if your Witnesses predecease you, or cannot be located.
In the case of a Will, the Notary must also connect the Affidavit of Execution to the Will by adding and signing an Exhibit stamp and Seal to the back of the Will.
If you don't have the original Criminal Record Check document, but it can be found on the
Internet (Website, Email, or App); we provide an Electronic Document
Certification Service. For details and pricing, click here.
If you have the original physical Criminal Record Check document, the Notary will be able to sign and seal the original,
and certify that it is in fact an original document.
If you have the original physical Criminal Record Check document, and you want the Notary
to make a certified true copy of the original, the Notary will be able to sign, seal, and certify that
the copy is a true copy of the original.
A TRANSLATION PACKAGE usually consists of: (1) a certified true copy of the original
foreign language document, to prove the Translator translated from the original.
(Select Service 1 when Booking Online if you need this Service),
(2) the translation (which the Translator, not the Notary, signs), and
(3) if you are using a Certified Translator, a Certified Translator's cover letter
(not necessary for the Notary to sign) or, if you are using a Non-Certified Translator,

Disclaimer: It is up to the client to determine whether the Translation Package described above will meet your needs. The Notary cannot give advice as to what documents will be sufficient for your purpose. If you are uncertain, it's best to contact the institution that will be accepting your translated documents to determine what they require.
The Canadian Passport Application requires that you find a guarantor who has known you for at least 2 years. If you can't find such a person, you will need the "In Lieu of Guarantor form" (only available at passport offices). A Notary is required to commission this form (make sure it is all filled out except for your signature and the date). Select Service 1 or 2 when Booking Online if you need this Service.
